La parola oltre i confini
Babel continua il suo lavoro di «ospitalità linguistica» portando al pubblico autori e traduttori che vivono e scrivono tra più lingue e culture. La terza edizione del festival si confronta con la «lingua imperiale» e gli «uomini delle province»: l'inglese americano e quegli scrittori che, venendo dalle frange del suo dominio linguistico, ne estendono i confini e ne ridefiniscono l'identità attraverso immaginari distanti e sintassi diverse.
Gli Inglesi uniti d'America sono quelli di Derek Walcott, Amitav Ghosh, Sandra Cisneros, Daniel Heller-Roazen, Jamaica Kincaid, Ha Jin e Stephanos Papadopoulos. La lingua globale è affiancata da quella svizzera più locale, il romancio, con ospiti Iso Camartin, Clà Riatsch, Leo Tuor, Chasper Pult.

La parole au-delà des frontières
Babel poursuit son travail d’« hospitalité linguistique » en proposant au public de rencontrer des auteurs et des traducteurs qui écrivent en plusieurs langues ou vivent entre plusieurs cultures. La troisième édition du festival est consacrée à la « langue impériale » et aux « hommes des provinces » : l’anglais d’Amérique et les écrivains tributaires de sa domination linguistique. S’ils élargissent les frontières de cette langue, ils en redéfinissent également l’identité, offrant des imaginaires vastes et un langage inédit.
Les « Anglais Unis d’Amérique » sont ceux de Derek Walcott, Amitav Ghosh, Sandra Cisneros, Daniel Heller-Roazen, Jamaica Kincaid, Ha Jin et Stephanos Papadopoulos. En contraste avec cette langue de la globalisation, la quatrième langue de la Suisse, celle d’Iso Camartin, Clà Riatsch, Leo Tuor et Chasper Pult, le romanche.

The word beyond boundaries
Babel continues its work of “linguistic hospitality”, bringing to the public authors and translators who live and write between several languages and cultures. This third edition of the festival confronts itself with the “imperial language” and “people from the provinces”: American English and those writers who, coming from the outskirts of its linguistic domains, stretch its borders and redefine its identity through distant imaginaries and syntaxes. The United English of America are Derek Walcott, Amitav Ghosh, Sandra Cisneros, Daniel Heller-Roazen, Jamaica Kincaid, Ha Jin and Stephanos Papadopoulos. This global language is accompanied by a more local Swiss language, Romansh, with guests Iso Camartin, Clà Riatsch, Leo Tuor, Chasper Pult.
